Buona Vista Community Club (BVCC)
Classes here are segregated between Elementary (white to blue belts) and Intermediate (yellow to green belts) participants, with each group having a mix of participants from various ages.
Despite this, there's a fair proportion of adults, youths, and children in each training group.
While we used to practice in the Dance Studio, we have recently moved to the Basketball Court in respect to the latest COVID-19 health and safety measures.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Classes
Commencement > Classes are conducted on an ongoing basis without regard to the Grading schedule. This means that participants may find themselves joining the class within or away from the Grading preparation period. Size > With the exception of classes at the Clubhouse, we strictly adhere to a maximum class size of 20 participants per session. This is in the interest of safety and to ensure optimum participant to instructor attention. Given this, prospective participants are advised to sign-up early or be put on a waiting list. Age > We strictly adhere to only accepting participants with a minimum age of 7, or have started / will be starting Primary 1 (or its equivalent) education during the calendar year. This is in the interest of safety and to ensure that participants are able to keep up with the technical nature of our classes. Fitness > New participants need not have a high level of fitness, but are required to be fit for light- to moderate-intensity exercise. When in doubt, we recommend an assessment by a qualified medical professional. Participant Profile > We do not discriminate upon a participant's background or experience, as long as they meet the above-mentioned criteria and come with the intention to learn and contribute to the personal development of themselves and others. Participants who do not embody our participant profile or the values of the Club and our accrediting body, NIKO, will be asked to discontinue to their practice with us without compensation. This is in the interest of safety and to avoid depriving others from learning. Free Trials > We do not provide free trials. However, prospective participants are strongly encouraged to watch a class and freely speak to our instructors directly. Visitors Visiting Time > Visitors are welcomed to watch our public general classes during the stipulated class schedules. However, our Instructors will only be able to speak with you before and / or after each session to prevent disruptions to the class at hand. Notice > No prior notice is required to visit a general class. However, we encourage you to Contact Us prior to coming, in case of any class cancellations. |
Fees
Course Fees > Submission of course fees (for registration / renewal) must be made before a participant is secured a place in class. Late submission may result in the loss of a participant's place in class. > Participants who wish to attend multiple courses must complete registration for each course. LHA-NIKO members shall enjoy discounted rates for the additional courses registered for. Miscellaneous Fees > Participants are subjected to the submission of the following fees, where applicable: LHA-NIKO Membership All participants practicing Ashihara Karate under LHA must have an 'active' membership status with New International Karate Org. (NIKO). The Membership Fee for new and reactivating members is $60 per year (early bird rate) and $90 per year (regular rate). Participants will be informed on the membership application procedures upon starting their first session. Grading Participants who wish to take part in Grading are required to submit the required application fees. Training Equipment Uniforms > Participants may choose to purchase their uniform (dogi) set during their membership registration or at a later time. While not mandatory for regular practice, participants are required to be attired in the uniform, affixed with the relevant insignias, should they decide to participate in Grading and other events organized by LHA and NIKO. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) > Participants are not required to immediately purchase PPE upon starting their practice. However, they will eventually require them for sparring (kumite) practice / Grading especially in the Intermediate Program. The required PPE are: - Head Gear (must purchase from Club) - Chest Protector (for females) - Open-finger Gloves (4oz-7oz) - Groin Protector - Shin-In-step Protector Uniform & PPE Conformity > Due to the specialized nature of our practice and brand exclusivity, we strictly uphold the conformity of uniforms and PPE to our safety and branding guidelines. Hence, prospective participants are advised to consult our instructors prior to making a purchase with a general supplier. |
